What to do if your child did not pass their hearing screening.
Follow Up with a Professional: Make an appointment with a licensed audiologist, ENT (ear, nose & throat doctor), or your child’s primary care provider.
Bring Screening Results: Bring the school hearing slip or referral form with you to the appointment.
Submit Documentation: Return the evaluation results to your child’s school nurse or health office.
If your child failed the hearing screening and is known to have a hearing aid, the device was not worn during the screening. It’s important they wear their hearing aid consistently. Hearing loss can significantly impact classroom participation, speech development, and academic performance.
